Smart Marine Ranching

SMART MARINE RANCHING

Taking “Smart Marine Ranching” as an example, we break down the complete loop of a GW-OCEAN solution — from industry context to real-world deployment.

01

INDUSTRY CONTEXT · CONTEXT

From “living off the sea” to “cultivating the sea with digital intelligence”

With the rapid development of marine-resource exploration, offshore wind power, marine ranches and port and terminal construction, traditional supervision methods face problems such as narrow monitoring coverage, a lack of detection means and low supervision efficiency, creating an urgent need for advanced technologies to enable detection and perception and to build all-weather, all-around monitoring systems.

Modern marine ranches are moving from nearshore aquaculture toward deep-sea and far-sea complexes, where the offshore operating environment is complex, on-site staffing costs are high, and habitat and safety risks are hard to perceive in real time. Centered on its marine-ranch integrated management system and integrated observation network, GW-OCEAN builds a transparent marine ranch that is visible, measurable and controllable — grasping the ecological status, fishery-resource status and production-operation status of marine ranches within the jurisdiction, and achieving informatized operations, intelligent analysis, timely early warning, clustered scheduling and coordinated auxiliary functions.

ARCHITECTURE

Integrated observation network + integrated management system

GW-OCEAN’s self-developed integrated marine-ranch observation network system comprises multiple modules — a subsea observation platform, a surface-mounted platform, a marine-ranch intelligent management system, a data acquisition and analysis center, a radar–electro-optical monitoring system, offshore personnel safety management and a mobile app — enabling tracking and monitoring of the ecological environment and resource status of marine ranches, as well as intelligent management of operation and maintenance.

Surface-Mounted PlatformSurface Platform

Integrating an intelligent dome camera, a shore-based weather station, a microwave base station and an omnidirectional antenna to collect parameters such as temperature, humidity, air pressure, wind speed, wind direction, rainfall, radiation and UV — strengthening the capacity to monitor and warn of meteorological disasters.

C

Radar–Electro-Optical MonitoringRadar & EO

Fusing radar–electro-optical sensing, infrared cameras, AIS vessel identification and satellite maps; through coordinated radar and electro-optical equipment, it performs all-weather, wide-area, fully automatic target detection and tracking across the marine ranch.

D

Management Platform & Mobile AppManagement Platform & App

Provides integrated management and display of big data including baseline data, environmental observation data, production-operation data, marine-meteorological data and third-party water-quality parameters, building a transparent marine ranch that is visible, measurable and controllable; the mobile app supports real-time access to observation data, with features such as observation-station distribution, real-time data monitoring, surveillance-video playback and online early warning.

WORKFLOW

A closed loop of monitoring — transmission — management — application

  1. 1

    Integrated perception monitoring

The subsea observation platform, surface-mounted platform and radar–electro-optical sensing continuously collect hydrological, water-quality, meteorological and target data, providing continuous observation of the sea-area environment and the status of biological species.

  2. 2

    Real-time data transmission

Multi-source monitoring data is transmitted back in real time over the communication system to the online observation platform, then enters the data acquisition and analysis center for aggregation, cleaning and modeling.

  3. 3

    Analysis and early warning

By collecting marine-observation, production-operation and marine-meteorological data along with officially released sea-area environment, biology and water-quality data, big-data aggregation and analysis are performed to issue various disaster-warning notices for proactive disaster prevention.

  4. 4

    Integrated management

Vessels, deep-water net pens and other equipment and facilities, projects under construction, recreational fishing grounds, and the production and sales of marine delicacies are managed in a unified way to produce marine-ranch production-operation reports.

  5. 5

    Visualized command and scheduling

Through computer control and large-screen display, all kinds of observation and construction-operation data are categorized, aggregated and displayed by zone, supporting production-operation management, command and scheduling, and scientific decision-making.

ADVANTAGES

Why choose GW-OCEAN

In-house R&D and design

The integrated observation network system is independently developed and designed by Shandong Guangwei Marine, with integrated hardware and software; the subsea observation platform offers a high protection rating, wave and corrosion resistance, a stable structure and strong scalability.

Full three-dimensional coverage

Subsea observation, surface-mounted platforms and shore-based radar–electro-optical sensing work in concert, covering from underwater to the surface to achieve all-weather, wide-area, fully automatic environmental perception and target tracking.

Monitoring and management in one

Builds an intelligent system that unifies monitoring, transmission, management and application — delivering informatized operations, intelligent analysis, timely early warning, clustered scheduling and coordinated auxiliary functions.

Deployment tailored to local conditions

Platform designs are optimized for the seabed conditions of different sea areas — for example, optimizing the seabed-base mounting platform to effectively prevent equipment from being buried by silt and ensure long-term stable operation.

The “maritime AIS radar–electro-optical multi-source fusion early-warning platform” has been deployed at the “Genghai No. 1” marine-ranch complex, the Yantai Runfengyuan national-level marine ranch and the Weihai Shuangdao Bay national-level marine ranch, broadly achieving real-time monitoring, track playback, risk assessment and early-warning push for vessel behavior in key sea areas.

The online observation system platform project for the national-level marine ranch in the waters of Beiji Island, Rui’an, Zhejiang — won and implemented by GW-OCEAN — has successfully passed the expert panel’s preliminary acceptance. The system deploys underwater HD video surveillance, multi-parameter marine-environment sensors, meteorological sensors and underwater acoustic detection equipment, achieving real-time, continuous and three-dimensional monitoring of the ecological environment, biological resources, water-quality changes and meteorological conditions of the artificial-reef area.
